  2. Hold the thermometer by the end and shake down the mercury down to where it's under 92°F
  3. Next use some lube on the thermometer, you should also lube the anal opening.
  4. Spread the butt cheeks with one hand and insert the thermometer about 2 inches inside the rectum.
  5. Hold in place for 3 to 5 minutes
  6. Remove thermometer and read.
  7. Wash thermometer with cold soapy water and wipe with alcohol.
