The first thing
about giving somebody an enema is consideration.
Enemas can be embarrassing and humiliating to the person receiving the enema.
The second is communication.
The person receiving the enema needs to let the administrator know how and what they are
feeling, whether they are having cramps or feeling
too full.
Remember
communication / consideration
Supplies:
a. Fountain syringe ( you can purchase at Drug Store for about $15.00)
b. Filtered water
c. Enema additives: castile soap, herbs, chlorophyll, Aloe Vera (or as recommended by a
health practitioner)
d. Plain warm water works as well to clean you out.
e. Have a couple of 2qt. or larger pitchers for warm water.
Steps to a great experience:
1. RELAX
2.Hang fountain syringe bag so that the bottom of the bag is about 16 to 20 inches
above where the rectum will be.
3.Have containers ready with enema solution.
To prepare:
a.Fill containers 1/2 full with cool, filtered water.
b.Heat up some filtered water on the stove. (Don't use hot water from tap.) Add to cool
water till the solution reaches 103ºF. Anything over 103ºF they won't be able to hold
for long.
Water over 115ºF. can
scald the intestinal wall !!
c.Add Enema additive of your choice. Mix well.
4.Fill fountain syringe with the enema solution. (Make sure clamp is closed before
filling bag.)
a. Open clamp to allow some solution to flow out into the toilet , close clamp.
(This ensures no air is in the tubing before inserting the Enema nozzle.)
5.Have the person lay down on a warm comfortable surface . After lubricating the Enema
nozzle, and anus with Vaseline insert nozzle into rectum.
6.Open clamp and allow enema solution to enter very slowly. Close clamp when you the
recipient says their feeling uncomfortable. Then start the flow again. Massage there
abdomen to help the enema solution further up into the colon from left to right.
7.After about a third of the bag has entered have them turn on right side. Open clamp
again, allow enema solution to enter slowly. Massage colon as solution enters. Close clamp
when they feel to much pressure and keep doing this until they have taken the whole
bag. With the first enema you might not be able to get them to take the whole bag.
8.Stay on side until feel urge to release is very strong.
Try to hold the solution at least
5 minutes Move to the toilet and release the solution. After releasing continue refilling
colon with enema solution until finished. you may refill the Enema bag as many times as
you need to get clean. A good cleansing will take at least 4 to 6 bags of water.
9. When expelling on the toilet
Raise knees above rectum by placing small stool or pillow under your feet while on the
toilet. Massaging colon from right to left promotes releasing when on toilet.
10.When finished, Wash the fountain syringe with Hot soapy water allowing water to drain
out tubing. The rinse. Hang bag so it can dry. Wash Enema nozzle (after removing it from
tubing) well with soap and water. Store Enema equipment in a clean dry container for
future use.
11.It is a good idea to smell the fountain syringe bag prior to each use to detect any
bacterial contamination. If detected, soak in 3-5% hydrogen peroxide for at least 30
minutes. Then rinse well with water. (This can be used as a preventative measure as well.)
Antibacterial soap would also work well. Remember: rinse with lots of water after
cleansing the bag.
NOTE: Enemas can be used daily when cleansing or
detoxifying and then as needed. It takes a long time to rid the colon of a lifetime of
waste! Using oral bulk fiber cleansers here's a great place to find your
