It's about 3 to 3½ inches in diameter in a normal healthy
adult colon.

For a complete cleansing of the large intestine you need to fill and distend the colon including the cecum with enema solution. In normal healthy adults with no intestinal problems the average amount of enema solution is about 2 to 3 quarts. Many people discover after taking their first enema that on the second and third enema in a series they can comfortably take quite a bit more solution. Sometimes as much as 3 to 4 qts quite comfortably. |
