The
Ascending colon is on the right side of the pelvis, and the lowest part of is
called the cecum,
the part of the colon where the small intestine empties
its contents into the colon in a liquid form.
It is the part of the colon with the largest diameter, and is most effective in
absorbing liquid.

To achieve a good enema or cleansing,
the ascending colon needs to be filled and distended.
A normal healthy adult colon will usually require between two to 3 qts. of
liquid
to fill and distend the entire colon including the ascending colon.
Their are a few people that might require as much as 4 qts. to achieve this
goal.
